Annuals, 'Confessor' -- Song Premiere

Two years after their acclaimed debut, Annuals are back with their sophomore release, 'Such Fun,' due October 7. While the North Carolina-based band sticks to its colorful, indie-pop formula, frontman and co-producer Adam Baker makes sure the record lives up to its name. Working with producer Jacquire King (Modest Mouse, Tom Waits), the group delivers a solid mix of post-rock, country-pop and orchestral balladry. Check out the harmony-laden opener 'Confessor' (available on iTunes August 19).

Oasis are back with 'Shock of the Lightning,' the dynamic first single from their seventh studio release, 'Dig Out Your Soul,' due out on October 7. "I wanted to write music that had a groove, not songs that followed that traditional pattern of verse, chorus, and middle eight," songwriter Noel Gallagher said of the new music's direction. "I wanted a sound that was more hypnotic and driving, with songs that would draw you in, songs that you would maybe have to connect to -- to feel." Listen to the steadily energetic tune to get a taste of the highly-anticipated new album.

U2 Look to the 'Horizon' on New Album

The details surrounding U2's forthcoming album are coming out a slow trickle but here's another drop in the bucket: the effort will reportedly be titled 'No Line on the Horizon' and is expected to be released on Friday, November 14, according to a recent report in the Sunday Mirror. While the band's camp has yet to confirm the news, U2's record label, Universal, corroborated the story -- at least partially -- by registering the URL www.nolineonthehorizon.com.

According to the Mirror, songs set for 'No Line on the Horizon' include 'For Your Love,' 'Love is All We Have Left,' 'One Bird,' 'Moment of Surrender,' 'If I Could Live My Life Again,' 'The Cedars of Lebanon' and the title track. An additional report by a fansite revealed that Anton Corbijn and a crew of 19 shot a video footage for the latter -- tipped to be the first single and expected late next month -- with director Anton Corbijn in the Spanish city of Cadiz, although Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen, Jr. were not present.

From Costa Mesa, Calif., comes Japanese Motors -- a band that reflects the surroundings. Gritty, feel-good, surf-influenced garage rock 'n' roll is what the young quartet does best. They have been making noise in Southern California for awhile and are now commanding the attention of the nation with an East Coast tour and an Emmett Malloy-directed video in the works. "Most of our friends are artists of various sorts in the sense that they don't want to have real jobs; we figured one of these artists would do it," vocalist Alex Knost told Spinner. "After asking Emmett, a true pro in the art of moviemaking, he said he would love to. Some people call it the hands of fate."

Fleetwood Mac's Lindsay Buckingham will be joined by two of his primary bandmates for his fifth studio disc, the curiously titled 'Gift of Screws.' Fleetwood Mac's namesakes, drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie, will appear on the follow up to 2006's 'Under The Skin,' which is set to be released on September 16.

The three worked together on a number of new songs, including the title track and 'Wait For You.' Other new titles – written in his home studio and in hotel rooms during his last tour – include 'Great Day,' 'Time Precious Time,' 'Love Runs Deeper,' 'Bel Air Rain' and 'The Right Place to Fade.'

"This album distills several periods of time," Buckingham explained. "It has false starts to make albums, songs that go back a number of years that took a while to find a home and brand-new songs. I wanted to bring it all together in one place. As an artist I'm still, for better or worse, clinging to my idealism and to my sense that there is still much to be said. This album is a culmination of that."

Buckingham, 58, will launch a six-week tour on Sept. 7 in Saratoga, Calif. As for the status of Fleetwood Mac, Buckingham told reporters of a 2009 tour earlier this year, although no additional details have surfaced.
